Rent through UniLet
Most student subleases run on Venmo and a group chat. That works right up until it doesn't. UniLet gives both sides a written agreement, rent that collects itself, and a record of every payment.
How it works
The subleasor creates a deal
Pick the listing, pick who you've been messaging, set the rent and the day of the month it's due. You can upload your landlord's written approval at the same time.
The subtenant reviews and accepts
They see the full payment schedule before agreeing to anything, add a card or Apple Pay, and accept the Subleasing Terms of Use. Nothing is charged at this point.
Rent collects automatically
On each due date the card is charged and the money moves to the subleasor's bank account. No reminders, no chasing, no awkward texts on the 3rd.
What you get
A signed agreement
Both parties accept the same written terms, timestamped. If there's ever a dispute, there's a record of what was agreed instead of a screenshot of a group chat.
Payments that don't depend on someone remembering
The most common way a sublease goes wrong is the subtenant stops paying in month two. Automatic collection removes that failure mode.
A payment history
Every payment is recorded with its date, amount, and status. Useful if you ever need to show a landlord, a parent, or a small claims court what actually happened.
Document storage
Upload landlord approval to the deal so it lives with the agreement rather than in someone's camera roll.
What it costs
A 7% fee applies to each rent payment, taken out of the subleasor's payout. The subtenant pays exactly the rent that was agreed, nothing more. Payment processing comes out of UniLet's share, not yours.
On $1,000 rent, the subtenant is charged $1,000 and the subleasor receives $930. Listing, browsing, and messaging stay free whether or not you use this.
What UniLet doesn't do
UniLet moves money between two students and nothing else. We don't verify landlord approval documents, hold security deposits, inspect properties, or mediate disputes. We're not a party to your sublease and we never pay your landlord directly.
Confirming that your sublease is actually allowed under your lease is on you. The full terms are in the Subleasing Terms of Use.
Cancelling
Either party can request cancellation at any time. The other side has 14 days to accept or decline. If they accept, remaining payments stop. If they decline, the deal continues as agreed. Cancellation needs both people to agree, so neither can walk away from the arrangement alone.
Already talking to someone?
Open the conversation and create a deal from there. Takes about two minutes.
